One of Greater Linden Development Corporation’s five core program areas is Commercial Development.
GLDC’s first commercial development project – the Clarence D. Lumpkin Point of Pride Building - is almost complete. Point of Pride is a 21,000 square-foot two-story mixed-use commercial building located on the northeast corner of Cleveland and Eleventh Avenues (1402-1418 Cleveland Avenue).
Point of Pride is part of a larger commercial redevelopment initiative called the Four Corners Project. The Four Corners Vision Plan was first unveiled in 1997. The first building completed at Four Corners, the COTA Transit Center, had its grand opening in 1999. Several buildings followed over the next several years, including the new administrative offices of Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA), the “State Farm” building (which is now an annex of CMHA), the rehabbed Crosstown Building (which includes the popular Linden Café), the Five Precinct Neighborhood Policing Center, and a Family Dollar store. Point of Pride is the last building of the Four Corners project, and had its official dedication on October 25, 2007.
Point of Pride currently houses five tenants. Project Linden and Greater Linden Development Corporation, both non-profit organizations, occupy all of the office space on the second floor. Subway, Nationwide Insurance, and Malcolm Pirnie occupy retail spaces on the first floor. Two additional tenants will be moving in later this year. The Huntington Community Conference Room, a meeting space for Linden groups, is also located on the first floor and available for meetings at a reasonable rental rate.
